In a bid for freedom from the tyranny of the Spirits' meddling, a group
of lovers makes a decision to defy the slavishness of imprinting by any
means necessary. After discovering they'd already unknowingly begun an
ancient rite to do exactly that, they take it a step farther, and in the
act of defying the Spirits and social norms, instead bind themselves to
one another for a lifetime and beyond.
