Reviews are good and bad at the same time. Of course it's great when you receive comments about your work and to see how people react to your chapters, to cliffhangers... But it's a vicious circle. The more you got and the more you want.

I've seen some extremely great authors blackmailing their reader and threatening them to give up the story if the last chapter they'd updated didn't get a certain amount of reviews. I can't blame them, because I always do backflips when I have an alert on my phone after posting a chapter, but sometimes it gets to your head.

Of course it affects my writing. I tend to write more after having good reviews! I also try to answer to all of them, which sometimes is difficult but manageable if you don't have a lot of people reviewing your story.

As a reader, I usually put all my reviews when the story is over. It's a good pretext to read it again and taking the time to say what I thought about the chapter. But when I'm bound to the story I usually put something like "I like it" or "I hate you" when the chapter ends with a nasty cliffhanger!
